Teddy Bear Tea Party - Sunday, January 31st.

Teddy Bear Tea Party

On January 31st, Family Services teamed up with the students from the volunteer council at The Taft School to host our second annual Teddy Bear Tea Party.  Over 70 guests attended and more than $1200 was raised.  The students provided the food, entertainment and the venue.  The children were welcomed to the party by the students who ushered them to the craft tables to make valentines, decorate goody bags and make a picture frame.  While they were creating, the student Jazz band played several numbers to which the student enjoyed dancing.  The food, provided and served by the students, included mini grilled cheese sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, mini pizzas and of course, tea poured from real silver pots. The tea cup raffle prizes for the children raised over $150 and the silent auction items for the adults brought in $400.  Mrs. Connecticut came and shared her tiara with the children who loved getting their pictures taken with her.  We ended the afternoon singing and dancing with the student a cappella group.
